Polije Strengthens Sustainable Innovation on Its 38th Anniversary
JEMBER – Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije) is strengthening its commitment to sustainable innovation and community impact. The institution marked its 38th anniversary on October 29, 2026, under the theme “Resilient, Impactful, and Sustainable.”
Polije Director Saiful Anwar, S.TP., M.P., said the institution continues to expand its contributions locally, nationally, and internationally. The campus also encourages research that addresses community needs.
“The theme Resilient, Impactful, and Sustainable reflects Polije's commitment to continued growth, improved achievements, and innovations that benefit society,” Saiful said.
Promoting Research with Real Impact
Saiful emphasized that higher education institutions must produce research with tangible benefits. Therefore, Polije encourages its academic community to develop innovations relevant to society and industry.
“We want every research project and innovation at Polije to go beyond technology development. Its results must also provide real benefits and address challenges faced by society,” he explained.
Polije also supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through environmental conservation and waste management initiatives. The campus develops these programs in collaboration with various partners.
Turning Waste into Valuable Products
One initiative transforms hospital food waste into maggots for animal feed. Polije implements this program in collaboration with PT Rolas, the Financial Services Authority (OJK), and Bank Jatim.
The partners process organic waste into useful products. This approach promotes resource utilization while helping reduce waste.
“Waste management is one of our priorities in supporting environmental sustainability. Through collaboration with various parties, we seek solutions that reduce waste and produce useful products,” Saiful said.
He also highlighted the importance of cross-sector collaboration in expanding the implementation of university innovations. Accordingly, Polije continues to build partnerships with industries and other stakeholders.
“The 38th anniversary reminds us to strengthen collaboration, improve vocational education, and develop sustainable innovations. We hope Polije will make greater contributions to society and development,” he added.
Through its 38th anniversary, Polije reaffirms its commitment to resilient and impactful vocational education. The institution will continue promoting research, collaboration, and innovation to support public welfare and environmental sustainability.
