JEMBER – Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije) is preparing Indonesian migrant workers through its SMK Go Global training program. The third batch involves 42 participants preparing for plantation worker positions in the palm oil sector.

Polije officially opened the training on Friday, October 30, 2026. Participants will undergo 14 days of training, followed by a one-day competency certification. The program equips candidates with practical skills that match overseas employment requirements.

Panji Tri Nugroho, Coordinator of P4MI Banyuwangi under BP3MI East Java, explained that the program provides free training and competency certification. The organizers adjust the materials to meet international labor market demands.

“SMK Go Global provides opportunities for prospective migrant workers to join free training and competency certification. We tailor the training materials to overseas employment needs so participants develop essential skills before starting work,” Panji said.

He added that the program helps the government prepare Indonesian workers for industries in destination countries. Participants can strengthen their professional competencies before entering the international job market.

Dr. Dhanang Eka Putra, S.P., M.Sc., Head of Polije's SMK Go Global Task Force, said KP2MI had entrusted Polije with nine training fields. These include palm oil plantation work and barista training.

“KP2MI has entrusted Polije with nine training fields, including palm oil plantations and barista services. We hope this program continues so more prospective migrant workers can improve their competencies,” Dhanang said.

To support practical learning, Polije provides palm oil plantations, field laboratories, and training equipment. Participants use these facilities to understand working environments and develop hands-on skills.

“We provide plantations, field laboratories, and practical equipment so participants gain experience relevant to their future jobs. They will not only understand the materials but also master the required skills,” Dhanang added.

The SMK Go Global program also supports the government's target of preparing 500,000 Indonesian migrant workers by the end of 2029. Polije hopes the initiative will continue and reach more prospective workers.

Through this third batch, Polije strengthens vocational training for the international workforce. The training and certification will help participants prepare for employment opportunities abroad.
