The Business Department of Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije) successfully organized the Project-Based Learning (PBL) Expo, showcasing the creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit of its students. The event brought together more than 400 students from various study programs, providing them with a platform to present their project outcomes and demonstrate their readiness to enter the business world.
The expo featured hundreds of innovative projects developed through project-based learning activities. Students displayed a wide range of products and solutions, including accounting system designs, digital marketing strategies, and business innovations that address real-world challenges. Many of these projects have already contributed to the digital transformation of local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
According to the Head of the Business Department, Dessy Putri Andini, the expo reflects Polije’s commitment to providing students with opportunities to transform creative ideas into practical and market-oriented innovations. She emphasized that Project-Based Learning serves as a key educational approach for developing students’ creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurial competencies.
The event also highlighted the growing impact of vocational education in preparing students for future careers. Through PBL activities, students are encouraged not only to acquire technical knowledge but also to develop critical thinking, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills that are highly valued in modern industries.
Vice Director for Academic Affairs and Planning, Surateno, praised the students’ achievements during the exhibition. He noted that the projects demonstrated the students’ ability to apply knowledge creatively while addressing practical business needs. Such competencies are essential for competing in an increasingly dynamic and globalized labor market.
One of the most significant outcomes of the PBL program is the emergence of student-led businesses. Several participants have successfully transformed their academic projects into independent business ventures, proving that vocational education can serve as a catalyst for entrepreneurship and economic empowerment.
The entrepreneurship theme featured in the expo aligns with Polije’s mission to produce graduates who are not only job seekers but also job creators. By encouraging students to develop innovative products and business models, the institution aims to reduce dependence on traditional employment opportunities while fostering financial independence and economic resilience.
Held in conjunction with the third anniversary of the Business Department, the PBL Expo became a celebration of academic achievement and entrepreneurial innovation. Through this annual event, Polije continues to strengthen its reputation as a vocational institution that nurtures future entrepreneurs, equips students with industry-relevant skills, and contributes to the development of Indonesia’s digital and creative economy.
