Empower-U Incubation Equips Students with Generative AI Skills
JEMBER — The Empower-U Incubation Program equips Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije) students with generative AI skills through The Art of Prompting: Mastering Gen-AI for Effective Results training. AI and Martech practitioner M. Fahrurrozi from Indosat Ooredoo led the training to support students’ academic needs, productivity, and creativity.
Fahrurrozi introduced four key elements of effective prompt writing: Role, Context, Directive, and Formatting. Students learned how to provide clear instructions so AI could generate responses aligned with their intended goals and formats.
Participants also practiced Zero-Shot, Few-Shot, and Chain of Thought Prompting techniques. In addition, they explored Persona, Refinement, and Reflection Patterns to improve the quality of AI-generated outputs.
The training also covered how to select AI platforms based on specific needs. Students explored Google Gemini for ideation and interactive content creation, as well as NotebookLM for source-based research and literature reviews.
Students then practiced using AI through the IM3 network ecosystem and Google Gemini features. They created interactive quizzes, conducted literature research, and prepared reports, presentations, and podcast scripts based on available sources.
Through these exercises, students learned that small changes in instructions can significantly affect AI-generated results. They also learned to use AI as a tool to support the thinking process rather than simply as a shortcut for completing assignments.
The training concluded with encouragement to develop continuous AI literacy habits. Through Empower-U Incubation, Polije encourages students to strengthen digital skills that are relevant to academic needs and the evolving demands of the workplace.
