From Theory to Practice, Polije PkM-TEFA Participants Simulate Pasteurized Milk Production
JEMBER – Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije) continued its PkM-TEFA activities through hands-on pasteurized milk production practice. Participants took part in the session at Polije’s UHT Teaching Factory (TEFA).
Previously, participants learned about the profile and potential of Polije’s UHT TEFA. They then explored the processing facilities and participated in a pasteurized milk production simulation.
Participants learned the processing stages, from ingredient preparation to product handling. They also became familiar with the technologies and equipment used in milk processing.
Food business owners actively participated in the practical session. They directly observed how processing technology can support product development and business growth.
One participant, Evi, appreciated the activity for connecting MSME actors with vocational education facilities. She said the activity created opportunities for business development and future collaboration.
“We greatly benefited from this kind of activity. There are many things we can learn about processing and product development,” Evi said.
PkM Team Leader Rizki Amalia Nurfitriani, S.Pt., M.Si., said the practical session connected vocational education with community needs. She also encouraged participants to maintain communication and pursue collaboration after the activity.
“We hope this activity does not stop at training. We want to continue communication, mentoring, and create opportunities for collaboration,” Rizki said.
The PkM team consisted of Rizki Amalia Nurfitriani, Dyah Laksito Rukmi, Siti Diah Ayu Febriani, Hutama Puranto Aji, and Michael Joko Wibowo. Students Aina Syifa Putri Sugiati, Fahrul Gunawan, and Yossia Septiana Christandy also participated.
Through this activity, Polije strengthened the role of TEFA as a bridge connecting education, technology, communities, and businesses. In addition, the activity opened opportunities for collaboration in developing milk-based food products in Jember.
