Memorable Experience for KNU Korea Students Planting Trees at Polije
JEMBER – The green areas of Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije) witnessed a meaningful environmental initiative involving young volunteers. Participants in the World Friends Korea ICT Volunteers (WFK-ICT) 2026 enthusiastically joined the Green Earth Day Tree Planting activity.
As WFK-ICT 2026 volunteers, students from KNU, South Korea, and Polije worked together to plant trees across the campus. Moreover, the environmental initiative provided an effective opportunity for participants to get to know one another and strengthen cross-cultural friendship.
The hands-on experience left a lasting impression on all members of the volunteer team. Furthermore, the international program, supported by South Korea's National Information Society Agency, became even more meaningful through the environmental activity.
“This tree-planting activity on campus reflects the students’ concern for environmental preservation,” said WFK-ICT Volunteers Polije President Azrieal Akbar Zackiansyah. He added that the activity further united the spirit of all volunteers.
Through the WFK-ICT 2026 program, participants do more than share information technology knowledge in the classroom. The Green Earth Day activity also adds a new dimension to the annual collaboration between Polije and KNU, which has continued since 2019.
The volunteers from South Korea expressed their pride in contributing directly to greening the Polije campus. The moment also served as a tangible example of young people’s commitment to addressing global environmental issues.
“We hope this collaboration can strengthen environmental awareness among the participants,” said Azrieal Akbar Zackiansyah. He also expressed hope that the initiative would inspire the entire Polije academic community.
All WFK-ICT 2026 participants are committed to maintaining this positive synergy until the end of the program. Ultimately, the international collaboration demonstrates how the spirit of volunteerism can make a meaningful contribution to the planet.
“Hopefully, the green initiative between Polije and KNU, South Korea, can continue in the future,” Azrieal Akbar Zackiansyah concluded.
