The Ministry of Forestry (Kemenhut) has partnered with Politeknik Negeri Jember (POLIJE) to optimize the management of a Forest Area for Special Purposes (KHDTK) as a regional education and research forest. This strategic collaboration aims to strengthen vocational education, environmental research, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable forest management through the active involvement of higher education institutions.

The partnership entrusts POLIJE with the management of a historic forest area, including colonial-era assets, through the Ministry's Center for the Socio-Economic Development of Forest Communities. The initiative reflects the Ministry's commitment to expanding collaboration with universities to improve forest governance while addressing budget and human resource limitations in managing educational forests.

As a vocational higher education institution, POLIJE will utilize the forest as a living laboratory where students, lecturers, and researchers can conduct applied learning and scientific research. The area will support multidisciplinary activities in forestry, agriculture, environmental conservation, biodiversity studies, ecotourism, and community empowerment, providing students with practical experiences that complement classroom instruction.
