Polije Explores Collaboration with Chinese Vocational Institutions
JEMBER – Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije) is exploring international collaboration with vocational institutions in China through a virtual meeting with Sunmaker and CIIEIE on Tuesday (August 4, 2026).
The meeting discussed student exchanges, teaching material development, and opportunities for a Joint Degree Programme (JDP). The collaboration is expected to expand opportunities for Polije students to gain international academic experience.
One of the proposed collaborations involves Dongying Vocational College. The exchange program is intended for students in the Diploma III (D3) programs of Horticulture, Food Industry Technology, Food Engineering Technology, and Agricultural Engineering.
Through the program, students would have the opportunity to study in China. In addition, they could broaden their international perspectives and develop cross-cultural communication skills.
Polije is also exploring collaborative teaching material development with Weifang Vocational College. This potential collaboration focuses on the Diploma III (D3) Horticulture program.
Furthermore, the two sides discussed opportunities for a Joint Degree Programme (JDP) under 2+1 or 1+1+1 study schemes. These schemes would allow students to complete part of their studies in Indonesia and China.
Mingming, Project Manager at Sunmaker and CIIEIE, presented the initial concept for the JDP. Polije then discussed potential areas of collaboration based on the academic strengths and needs of both institutions.
As a follow-up, Polije and its Chinese partners will further develop the mechanisms for student exchanges, teaching material development, curriculum alignment, and the JDP scheme. These efforts are expected to lead to concrete and sustainable international partnerships.
