Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije) has taken a strategic step toward developing the tourism potential of the Argopuro Mountain slopes through a tripartite collaboration involving the Jember Regency Government and Perhutani KPH Jember. The initiative aims to transform the region’s abundant natural and cultural resources into sustainable drivers of economic growth and community welfare.

The collaboration marks the beginning of the technical implementation phase of a broader partnership that brings together policymakers, forest managers, and academic institutions. Polije is expected to play a leading role by contributing innovation, research, technology, and human resource development to support tourism growth in the area.

According to Polije Director Saiful Anwar, the partnership creates a valuable opportunity for all stakeholders to work together in developing innovative solutions for tourism destinations. He emphasized that Polije is committed to providing technology and facilities that can increase local income while generating positive social and economic impacts for surrounding communities.

The Head of the Jember Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Sports Office, Bobby Arie Sandi, highlighted the vast tourism potential of the Argopuro region, which stretches from mountainous landscapes to southern coastal attractions. He noted that such extensive tourism assets require collaborative management and cannot be developed effectively by the local government alone.

As part of the agreement, Polije’s tourism experts and academic resources will contribute to destination planning, innovation development, and community empowerment programs. The partnership is expected to produce practical strategies that enhance the attractiveness of the Argopuro area while ensuring that local residents benefit directly from tourism activities.

Meanwhile, Perhutani KPH Jember expressed its commitment to supporting sustainable tourism development within forest-managed areas. The organization views the collaboration as an opportunity to optimize natural resources responsibly while preserving environmental sustainability and creating new tourism destinations that can attract domestic and international visitors.

One of the primary goals of the initiative is poverty reduction through tourism-based economic development. By integrating academic expertise, government support, and forest management resources, the partnership seeks to create a tourism ecosystem capable of generating employment opportunities, supporting local businesses, and improving the quality of life in rural communities around the Argopuro slopes.

Through this tripartite collaboration, Polije reaffirms its commitment to applied innovation and regional development. The institution is optimistic that its contribution in research, technology, and vocational education will help unlock the full tourism potential of the Argopuro highlands, strengthen Jember’s position as a leading tourism destination, and promote sustainable economic growth for the region.
