POLIJE Prepares International Guest Lecture on Food Safety Standards and Export Regulations for the European Market
Politeknik Negeri Jember (POLIJE) is preparing to host an international guest lecture focusing on food safety standards and export regulations, particularly for Switzerland and the European community. The lecture aims to provide students with valuable insights into global food safety requirements and the procedures necessary for exporting food products to international markets.
The preparation was discussed in a coordination meeting involving representatives from POLIJE and international partners. The meeting focused on organizing the guest lecture scheduled for April 15th, which will be delivered by Mr. Place from Par3. The session is designed to enhance students’ understanding of international export readiness and food safety compliance.
The lecture will take place in a large auditorium at POLIJE with a capacity of approximately 200 students. To ensure broader participation, additional students will be able to join the session through an online Zoom meeting. This hybrid format is expected to allow students from various relevant study programs to benefit from the discussion.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the lecture format, timing, and technical requirements to ensure a smooth implementation. To minimize potential technical issues, both parties agreed to conduct a technical check 30 minutes before the lecture begins, testing the audio, video, and screen sharing systems.
A significant part of the discussion highlighted the importance of food safety standards in global trade. Elly explained that ACCP (Alimentaros Cortex) is widely recognized for its role in supporting food safety and export readiness through internationally accepted standards. The organization aims to help producers meet global market requirements and ensure product safety.
The conversation also emphasized that export requirements can vary significantly across markets. Mr. Place from BFH-HAFL shared an example of how export readiness standards differ depending on the destination country. For instance, food products exported to Indonesia often require halal certification, while exports to Switzerland and the European Union must meet strict labeling, traceability, and safety regulations.
In addition, Elly explained that students studying food safety management systems are trained to identify, evaluate, and control potential hazards in food production processes. This knowledge is essential for ensuring that food products meet international safety standards before entering global markets.
Several action plans were agreed upon during the meeting. Mr. Place from BFH-HAFLwill prepare and deliver the guest lecture focusing on export readiness for Switzerland and the European community and provide the lecture title, key points, and a supporting image for promotional materials. Meanwhile, the POLIJE team, including Agung and Vigo, will arrange the Zoom invitations for both the technical check and the main lecture session.
Furthermore, the organizing team will invite students from relevant study programs, including International Marketing Management and other related fields, to attend the lecture either in person or online. After the lecture takes place, both parties plan to evaluate the session based on its effectiveness, student feedback, and topic relevance, which may open opportunities for future research collaborations and academic partnerships.
