Polije, PT Rolas, and YPP MHI Discuss Waste Management and Integrated Farming
JEMBER – Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije), PT Rolas Nusantara Medika, and YPP MHI discussed waste management and integrated farming development in a pesantren environment.
The collaboration aims to establish a productive and sustainable environmental management system. The teams also assessed potential sites for integrated farming and waste processing initiatives.
The teams explored the use of an existing water pond for snakehead fish farming. Other available ponds could also support the cultivation of tilapia, catfish, and gourami.
The partners also proposed processing organic waste from the pesantren into organic fertilizer. In addition, they planned to develop maggot cultivation to reduce organic waste while producing an alternative source of animal feed.
The Chair of YPP MHI expressed hope that Polije would provide continuous assistance. The support would cover planning, technology, training, and the development of business units.
PT Rolas representative Tommy Darmawan expressed the company’s readiness to support the required facilities and infrastructure. The support aims to accelerate the sustainable implementation of the program.
Representing Polije, Wendy Triadji and Rizki Amalia Nurfitriani reaffirmed their commitment to providing assistance. Both are members of the Polije SDGs Team.
“Polije is ready to assist YPP MHI until it achieves full independence. The support will cover waste management, fisheries, organic fertilizer, and maggot cultivation,” said Wendy.
As a follow-up, the parties will develop a grand design for the integrated farming and waste management area. The document will serve as the basis for preparing a Cooperation Agreement (Perjanjian Kerja Sama or PKS).
In addition, YPP MHI requested Polije’s assistance in developing plans to establish YPP MHI Polytechnic. Polije welcomed the initiative and will continue coordination in accordance with applicable regulations.
