JEMBER — Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije) held a Teamwork, Leadership, and Critical Thinking training session on September 24, 2026. The activity formed part of the Shape Your Future program under the DiktiSaintek Berdampak initiative.

Ir. Surateno, S.Kom., M.Kom., led the training and discussed three key competencies: teamwork, leadership, and critical thinking. These skills help students address organizational challenges while improving productivity and collaboration.

In the teamwork session, students learned about high-performing teams, role distribution, trust, and conflict resolution. Surateno also introduced Bruce Tuckman’s team development model through the Forming, Storming, Norming, and Performing stages.

The leadership session introduced the Situational Leadership concept developed by Paul Hersey and Ken Blanchard. Students learned to choose Directing, Coaching, Supporting, or Delegating approaches based on team members’ conditions and readiness.

The training also explored emotional intelligence through Daniel Goleman’s concept. Students learned how to manage pressure, develop empathy, and maintain team resilience in various situations.

For critical thinking, students used Socratic Questioning and the 5 Whys technique to analyze problems and identify their root causes. Surateno also encouraged students to recognize confirmation bias, anchoring bias, and groupthink during decision-making processes.

Students then applied the concepts through games, group discussions, peer evaluations, and workplace simulations. These activities trained students to resolve conflicts, make timely decisions, and communicate ideas clearly.

Through this training, Polije encourages students to strengthen leadership, collaboration, and analytical thinking skills. These competencies provide valuable preparation for campus projects and professional environments.
