JEMBER – Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije) is strengthening students’ career readiness through a structured industry internship program. The program connects campus learning with workplace needs by providing students with hands-on experience in companies.

Polije implements the program through a six-month cycle. Students participate in work activities that support their learning outcomes while introducing them to real-world industrial environments.

The internship program consists of seven preparation stages. Polije appoints internship coordinators at the study program level, identifies industry partners, and establishes cooperation through Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and Memorandums of Agreement (MoAs).

Before student placement, Polije develops activity plans together with industry partners. The institution also provides preparatory training and selects students according to the companies’ requirements.

Zahrudin Ma’ruf, Senior Executive Vice President of Business Support at PT Mitratani 27, said Polije students demonstrated dedication, integrity, and adaptability during their internships.

“Polije students demonstrate dedication, integrity, and adaptability. Collaboration between higher education institutions and industry is important for addressing challenges in the agriculture and food sectors,” Zahrudin said.

HR & GA Supervisor at PT East West Seed Indonesia, Toni Firmansyah, said the internship program also benefits companies. Students contribute to projects, update standard operating procedures (SOPs), bring digital skills, and support team productivity.

To further strengthen career readiness, Polije held the Industry and Career Summit (ICS) 2026 on August 27, 2026. The event brought together students, alumni, lecturers, and company representatives to discuss career opportunities and industry needs.

In addition to internships, Polije received a grant from UNDP through Swisscontact to implement the Empower-U Incubation program. The program targets 104 TVET students from agribusiness, seed technology, crop cultivation, and management fields.

Through internships, career forums, and incubation programs, Polije strengthens students’ technical competencies and industry experience. Collaboration with the private sector also provides opportunities for students to build professional networks and prepare for the workforce.
