JEMBER – Residents of Seputih Village, Mayang District, Jember, are turning plastic waste into various handicraft products. The activity encourages environmental awareness while creating new economic opportunities for the community.

Household plastic waste often pollutes the environment due to inadequate waste management. The waste can also flow into rivers, affecting their cleanliness and disrupting water flow.

Through a Community Service Program, residents received information about sorting and reusing plastic waste. Participants then practiced making various handicraft products from used materials.

One of the products combines plastic waste with clocks and mirrors. This creative approach transforms discarded materials into functional products with aesthetic and economic value.

The activity also introduced participants to proper packaging techniques to make their crafts more attractive. The team provided plastic packaging and product labels to help prepare the products for the market.

Participants also learned how to document their products for promotional purposes. In addition, they received digital marketing training to expand their reach through digital platforms.

The program combines environmental conservation with community economic empowerment. Reusing plastic waste can reduce environmental pollution while creating products with added value.

Turning plastic waste into crafts is not the only solution to the waste problem. However, the activity encourages residents to sort, reuse, and transform waste that still has practical value.
