CHINA – Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije) is expanding its international industry insights by sending a lecturer to China. During the program, Dr. Elly Kurniawati, a lecturer in the Food Engineering Technology Study Program, visited Dethin’s beverage ingredient manufacturing facility in Jiaxing.
The international program, jointly organized by HOPE Indonesia and Jiaxing Vocational Technical College, runs from August 15 to September 15, 2026. Through the industry visit, Polije aims to gain insights into the manufacturing and formulation processes used in the global beverage ingredient industry.
During the field visit, Elly observed the beverage raw material production chain, factory hygiene standards, and automated packaging processes. The experience also provided practical insights into how modern facilities implement food safety requirements.
The visit to Dethin further strengthens Polije’s commitment to aligning its curriculum with global industry needs. The practical knowledge gained from the industrial environment will enrich teaching materials for Polije students’ practical courses.
“The visit to Dethin’s factory provided valuable insights into international standards for automation and beverage ingredient formulation,” said Polije lecturer Dr. Elly Kurniawati.
Elly further explained that consistent beverage product quality depends heavily on the application of precision processing technologies. She noted that the professional workflow applied by China’s food industry is highly relevant to strengthening Polije’s applied research ecosystem.
“We will apply the experience gained from this industrial visit to improve the quality of practical learning for Polije students,” Dr. Elly Kurniawati added.
Polije also plans to incorporate modern food industry operational standards into practical modules for agricultural product processing. This initiative is expected to better prepare Polije graduates to compete in the international food ingredient industry.
The knowledge gained through the industrial visit demonstrates the active role of vocational higher education in supporting food security and technological advancement. The international partnership also expands Polije’s academic and industry networks on the global stage.
